The SUONO Project is divided into two sub-projects:

– Creation of a new class of Hyperbaric Evacuation System (HES)  to evacuate saturation divers in the event of an accident to the support vessel or platform.
A modular hyperbaric system (Modular Hyperbaric System – MHS) equipped with devices for the remote monitoring of biomedical data of the Certified Commercial Divers (CCD) will therefore be created and tested, with the possibility of having offline medical and even specialist psychological teleconsultation.

– Construction of an Hybrid Underwater Vehicle (HUV) equipped with a manipolation control system capable of operating both in manual mode (remotely like classic ROVs) and semi-automatically. This vehicle will also be able to operate both in observation mode and in work mode, by adding a robotic underwater manipulation system.
The HUV developed during the SUONO project will be enhanced with innovative Computer Vision techniques to provide the operator with a series of additional information in order to allow intuitive and natural driving of the vehicle.

Fields of application

Research and management of offshore energy sources, offshore wind farms and power generation systems based on the exploitation of the tides, environmental protection (including pollution of port or marine areas in general), geophysics, aquaculture and underwater archeology.
